Kelsea Ballerini Announces New Album “PATTERNS”, Shares New Song “Sorry Mom”
American country pop singer-songwriter Kelsea Ballerini has announced her fifth studio album “PATTERNS” will be released on October 25, 2024 via Black River.
The album comprises 15-track, where Kelsea Ballerini co-produced and co-wrote with Alysa Vanderheym.
She also worked with songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Hillary Lindsey.
Kelsea Ballerini told The Associated Press about the album, “I think that people probably expect this really happy-go-lucky, love, mushy, gushy record from me. That's not the case. And I'm really proud of that. It would have been easy to, I think, just collect the really beautiful parts of my life that I've dusted off and found the last couple of years. But that's not the fullness of my experience.”
She continued, “There's a lot of narrative of learning how to go from fighting with something or with someone, to fighting for something or for someone. And there's a lot of that journey for the whole record.”- From the album, she released the second single called “Sorry Mom” on August 9, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “Cowboys Cry Too” with American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan, which was released back in June.
It is a deeply personal ballad that doubles as a letter to her mother.
The track was written by Alysa Vanderheym, Hillary Lindsey, Jessie Jo Dillon, Karen Fairchild, and Kelsea Ballerini.
Produced by Kelsea Ballerini and Alysa Vanderheym.
Kelsea Ballerini said of the song, “I love how our relationship evolves. My Mom didn't understand, was even disappointed by some of it, but stood by me, holds me like gravity. When you recognize your own growth, priorities and being a woman she's proud of? That's a lot for a song to hold.” -
She continued, “Everyone was encouraging and pushing to go further into the way we really live. And it's all there in 'Sorry Mom': chasing dreams, walking away from school, losing my virginity, walking away from college. But the best part of the song is - in the fullness of time - I can appreciate how she felt about all of it, I can understand why. We can both look back on those times, knowing it was part of the journey, and it's part of a lot of people's journeys... But when you look at everything that happened, it turned out pretty well. To me, that's what you can't know 'til you're here.”
