Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Darius Martin teamed up with American record production duo Cool & Dre to release a new song “Fill My Cup” on May 2, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “Like We Used To Before”, which was released back in January.
The track is a celebration of Afrobeat culture and being alive with mesmerizing percussion, euphoric riffs, and vivid lyrics.
It was written by Andre Lyon, Canaan Caleb Cunningham, Darius Martin, Dennis Will, Marcello Valenzano, Raeliss Marrero, and Ransom Benjamin. Produced by Cool & Dre.
The accompanying music visualizer was directed by Brian Smith.
Darius Martin said of the song, “Wizkid, Tems, and Omah Lay are some of my favorite Afrobeat artists right now. This genre is so important, because it’s a part of something much bigger than just music - it's an entire movement happening right in front of our eyes! I feel that music should represent positivity as much as possible and when I listen to Afr beats that’s what I see portrayed most. 'Fill My Cup' isn’t about alcohol or anything that can harm you; it’s about love and filling your cup up with God, knowledge, understanding, peace, love, and everything positive!
