British singer-songwriter Holly Lapsley Fletcher, aka Låpsley returned with a new song “4AM Ascension Day” on Maech 1, 2024.
The song is the first music in a year since the 2023 third studio album “Cautionary Tales of Youth”.
Also, the track is the first single off of her upcoming EP.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 6 Music with Chris Hawkins.
According to a press release, the track is about the anxiety of a past infidelity and the guilt that lingers long after a relationship ends. In expressing such home truths with unflinching honesty, Låpsley seeks to release herself from the past - a mindset manifested in the song’s visual, with its imagery of sleepless nights and a kite in full flight.
The track was written by Låpsley, and Jakwob who also produced it. The accompanying music video was directed by Jeanne Buchi.- Låpsley shared on social media, “It’s been so strange and relieving releasing '4am Ascension Day'. In part it’s been a process letting go of memories entwined within the music. Over the next few weeks I’ll go in to depth breaking down how it was made with Jeanne Buchi Crusoe and the metaphors behind it.”
