British singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor performed “Murder On The Dancefloor” on the 2024 British Academy Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18, 2024.
The song is featured on the 2023 film “Saltburn” soundtrack.
The film was directed by Emerald Fennell, starring Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, and Archie Madekwe.
The film was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Original Score, and Outstanding British Film at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards.
Initially, the song was released by Sophie Ellis-Bextor as the second single from her debut album “Read My Lips” in 2001.
But the song was used in the final scene of the film where the star, Barry Keoghan danced, and the visual went viral on TikTok.
She re-released the song, including 6 versions, on February 2, 2024.
Then the song reached No. 2 on the UK Singles chart and No. 9 on the Billboard Maxi-Singles Sales chart. The song became a top-10 hit worldwide.
