Manchester-based DJ salute premiered a new song “system” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the first single since the EP “Shield”, which was released last May.
It was written by Adam 'Baz' Kaye, Andy Smith, Cecile Believe, Felix Nyajo, Lorely Rodriguez, and Sam Knowles. Produced by Karma Kid and salute.
The song features American singer-songwriter Empress Of as guest vocals.
salute said of the song, “I think 'system' best describes where my head is at in terms of the sound I'm trying to get across. I've been obsessively re-diving into old French records and they've had a massive influence on how I produce my music – this one was particularly fun to make. I'm so in love with my pal Empress Of's vocals on this tune, I've wanted to work with her for a number of years now and I'm so pleased we could make this work. As with most of the tunes I'll be releasing this year, 'system' is a collaborative effort: had help from Karma Kid, Andy Smith and Baz Kaye (Bondax) on this one. They came through with the ingredients to tie 'system' together beautifully.”- salute told Clara Amfo about working with Empress Of, “I've been a big fan of the years now and I wanted to work with her for so long. And I think when I wrote down the list of feature for this album, the first ones that I put down because her voice is so unique and I love she writes. And when I approached her about making this tune, it's sounds actually out this Motown stuff anyway, sounds like actually is perfect. And we went to industry together LA and I wrote a couple of tunes actually, and she absolutely killed both of them. And this is one of my favorite tracks that I've made in the last couple of years. So I'm so happy that this is coming out now.”
