Kygo & Ava Max Team Up for New Song “Whatever”
Norwegian DJ Kygo and American singer-songwriter Ava Max teamed up to release a new song “Whatever” on January 19, 2024.
This marks the first time Kygo and Ava Max have worked together.
For Kygo, the song is the follow-up to a remake of “Say Say Say” with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, which was released last March.
Meanwhile, Ava Max collaborated with Kygo after the release of the motion picture “Barbie” soundtrack “Choose Your Fighter” in July 2023.
The new track includes an interpolation of Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira's 2001 single “Whenever, Wherever”.
The track was written by Amanda Ava Koci, Cleo Tighe, Gloria Estefan, Jonah Shy, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, Patrick Martin, Roland Spreckley, Shakira, and Tim Mitchell. Produced by Kygo.
The accompanying music video was directed by Dano Cerny.
The song will appear on Kygo's upcoming fifth studio album.
- Last November, Kygo shared about the new album on social media, “I'm back home in my home studio in Norway. I just wanted to give you guys a quick little update on new music. I know I haven't released any songs this year, but I've been working really hard in the studio the whole year on my next album and I wanted to make sure that it was perfect before I release anything. So hopefully the wait will be worth it and I promise there's a lot of new music coming next year.”
