Only The Poets Drops New Music Video for “Every God I Pray To”
British alt-pop band Only The Poets, consisting of Tommy Longhurst (vocals/guitar), Andrew 'Andy/Roo' Burge (bass), Clem Cherry (guitar) and Marcus Yates (drums), has dropped a new music video for “Every God I Pray To”.
The video was directed by Jordan Daniel Logan, who filmed at a derelict swimming pool in Oxford.
The band said of the video, “We filmed our new music video in an derelict swimming pool in Oxford. It's about the feeling of abandonment. That person that once gave you joy and the emotional turmoil you experience in coming to terms with being abandoned.”
The song was released last month as the sixth single under their new label Virgin EMI Records. The track was written by Aiden Halliday and Tom Longhurst. Produced by Mark Ralph.
The band frontman Tommy Longhurst said of the song, “'Every God I Pray To' is about the breakup of a once seemingly perfect relationship, and the struggle that entails when having to come to terms with it. No matter how hard you try, and wherever you search to find that solace, you're always led back to missing that person.”- He continued, “The song was written in 2 hours before soundcheck on the Lewis Capaldi tour. It felt right to keep it stripped back to just vocal and keys, just as it was written. All year we've been playing it unplugged in the middle of the venue. It's one my favourite moments of the set, there's nowhere to hide singing in the middle of the room!”
The band will release an acoustic version of “Crash”, which was released back in June, this Friday (December 15).
