  • Ricki-Lee Drops New Music Video for “Ghost”

  • Last month, Australian singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee announced that her fifth studio album “On My Own” would be released on March 8, 2024.

It is her first album in a decade since the 2014 album “Dance in the Rain”.
The album comprises a 10-track, produced by David Schuler and DNA Songs.
Ricki-Lee said of the album, “Over the last 18 months I have poured my absolute everything into this album and without a doubt it’s my best work to date, I’ve never been prouder.”
On December 3, she dropped a new music video for “Ghost” directed by James Chappell from the album.
The song is the third single off of the album, following “On My Own” and “Point Of No Return”.
The track was written by Anthony Egizii, David Musumeci and Ricki-Lee. Produced by DNA Songs.
Ricki-Lee said of the video, “This song is heartbreaking but celebratory at the same time...it’s about losing someone you are really close to and never getting an answer as to why it happened. It’s about never really ever being able to let go of the memory of that person. The video is a gorgeous way of bringing this song to life and was the vision of the incredible James Chappell, who I’ve wanted to work with FOREVER!!! He 'got' the song from the first listen and was able to translate the pain and hurt and heart of this song into a music video!”
  • Ricki-Lee said of the song, “I wrote the song about being ghosted. We’ve all been there, and it’s such a weird and frustrating thing to go through because you never really get any closure.”
She continued, “It was actually a difficult song for me to write because it’s about losing someone I was extremely close to. One minute they were a huge part of my life, and the next day they were gone. It was like they died… but they didn’t… they just vanished out of my life one day. I was heartbroken.”
She added, “And what makes it worse is that we live in a world where social media keeps everyone connected - but sometimes it’s more like you’re being haunted by the person who ghosted you when you see their face popping up in your DM’s and watching everything you’re doing.”
