Chase & Status Premieres New Song “Selecta” featuring Stefflon Don on BBC Radio 1
London-based electronic music duo Chase & Status, consisting of Saul Milton and Will Kennard, premiered a new song “Selecta” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
This time, the duo teamed up with British rapper Stefflon Don on the track.
The song is featured on their upcoming second mixtape “2 RUFF, Vol. 1”, which is out on November 10, 2023.
The track was written by Will Kennard, Saul Milton, Stefflon Don, Denzil Delano Foster, Thomas McElroy, Irving Domingo Lorenzo, Jay A. King, 7 Aurelius, and Ashanti Douglas. Produced by Chase & Status.
The duo told Clara Amfo about the song, “We've for years wanted to do something with only you the shouty sample in there and so we played it really got to sound pretty good. And we wanted to make like a real high end drum and bass tune with it because it hasn't been done before, which we thought was quite crazy. And we've got this Thai ing track together. And it was just missing something even though we were playing it to death in the clubs like to see walking bed tonight or maybe, but we're still missing something. And then we were working on stuff with Stefflon for her album and we wrote a full track and we thought was on hold on. Maybe we should steal these lyrics from Stefflon and put them on our song and mold it together. And we obviously stole them but with our permission. It's kind of worked out.”- They continued, “You know what we try and work with people we haven't worked with in the past. And also we try and work with people who haven't really done much drum and bass base. And so it was such a cue getting stiff on a drum and bass song. And so when we found out she was off, it was amazing for us because like given us as a confidence in the record, the sort of confirmation it was like official and it's the same level RD all those kinds of eyes. We'd be worried voices you don't hear on drum and bass. She's just hearing their tones over drum and bass itself was just like kind of like for us. Anyway kind of groundbreaking. It is exciting. So having a involved has been has given it something different.”
The new mixtape comprises 10-track, featuring guest appearances from Stefflon Don, IRah, Flowdan, Trigga & Takur, Clementine Douglas, Savo, Horrid1, Takura, Kwengface, MIST and IRah. - source : BBC Radio 1
