The Burma Releases New Album “Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities”
Irish indie rock band The Burma, consisting of Tony O Donovan (vocals/guitar), Peter Piggott (lead guitar) and Cian Doherty (drums), released their sophomore album “Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities” on October 6, 2023.
The album comprises 10-track, produced by Christian Best. All Tracks were written by The Burma and lyrics by Tony O'Donovan.
The band recorded the album at Monique Studios, Co. Cork.
The album features their two sides sounds such as light-hearted, dreamy pop songs and a darker, more serious mood to them.
The band said of the album, “We started writing and recording 'Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities' a couple of weeks after releasing our debut album last year. The first album was put together over a long period of time and features a few guest musicians who we've played with over the years. This album however, was written and performed solely by the three of us, so I think it's a better representation of the band right now. When it came to picking a title we realized that there were two different types of songs on the album - half of them were light-hearted, dreamy pop songs and the other half had a darker, more serious mood to them. Tony came up with the title 'Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities' to reflect this duality on the album.”- The band explained about some tracks for the album.
The Burma “23”
'23' is the first song we wrote and recorded for our second album. It's one of those songs that came together really quickly. The song you hear now has barely changed from its initial conception, which is a rare thing for us!
The Burma “The Hard Ground”
“This song is a bit of a standalone track on our new album. It's the first time we've written a song that showcases our early influences as much as this one. We didn't shy away from them where we might have in the past. This single also features elements of one of the very first songs we wrote 10 years ago.”
The Burma “Holiday”
“It's a more laid back, feel good Summer tune and we wanted to try and capture that within the production. When we were in the middle of writing our second album, we were trying to narrow down what songs would make the Final Cut. Holiday was a stand out track and an easy choice for all of us, not just as an album pick but as our main single.” -
