  • James Bay Returns With New Song “Goodbye Never Felt So Bad”

  • British singer-songwriter and guitarist James Bay returned with a new song “Goodbye Never Felt So Bad” on August 11, 2023.

The song is his first music in a year since the 2022 third studio album “Leap”.
He recorded the song with his tour band for the first time.
The track was written by James Bay and Phil Plested. Produced by Gabe Simon and James Bay.
“'Goodbye Never Felt So Bad' is a song about how crazy it can feel to say goodbye,” James Bay said of the song in a statement. “There's rarely ever anything good about it. I say goodbye to the people I love constantly; it comes with the territory of my work. I'm always travelling. It's an amazing job but everything in life has its upsides and downsides.”
  • He continued, “I just wanted to share new music for the thrill of it. You can't ask an audience to like something, but every time my fans put their hands in the air, clapped along and by the last chorus they were singing the words.”
He added: “It's been unbelievable. I'm really excited to share the recording with the world. I wrote it with my mate, the brilliant Phil Plested. I hope you love it!”

  • James Bay shared on social media, “Another song goes into the world and I'm so super proud to call it mine and so grateful to have worked on it with such brilliant people. Thanks Phil Plested who I always have such a great time writing with Thanks to Gabe Simon who co produced it with me, pushed me to new heights and created a very wonderful vibe in the stude. Believe it or not for the first time ever I took the brilliant band that I tour with straight into the studio to record with me as well. Tom Peel, donhep, Katie Dove Dixon and Luke Bullard are some of my absolute faves and getting to record AND tour together is a total dream.”
