Alpine Universe Covers Rihanna's “Desperado”
French electronic music producer Andy Favre, aka Alpine Universe released a cover of Barbadian singer-songwriter Rihanna's “Desperado” on August 4, 2023.
The song will appear on his upcoming EP “Akoustik Vol. II”, which is set to be released on September 8, 2023.
The original version of the song is featured on Rihanna's eighth studio album “Anti”, which was released in 2016.
It was written by Jillian Banks, Rachel Derrus, James Fauntleroy, Robyn Fenty, Christopher Taylor and Krystin Watkins. The cover version was produced by Alpine Universe.
Capturing the essence of emotional confinement and the relentless pursuit of freedom, the cover takes the pain of grappling with vulnerabilities and seeking liberation from the clutches of despair and infuses it with the powerful battle cries of the ancient Viking tapestry of sounds.
“'Desperado' became my favorite Rihanna song when it came out,” Andy Favre said of the song. “When I heard it while lifting weights, I thought it would sound great as a warrior-style fight song, so I made my version of the track.”
