Connie Talbot Releases New Song “Easier Pretending You're Dead”
British singer-songwriter Connie Talbot returned with a new song “Easier Pretending You're Dead” on June 2, 2023.
The song is her first music in a year since 2022 single “Thank You”. Also the track will appear on her upcoming 4-track EP.
She started her new era with the song. Connie Talbot shared, “I could tear up thinking about this new chapter of music and my life. It’s been a dream for me since forever. Growing up in the industry has had its challenges but little Connie would be so excited for this new music, and in shock over having people care and listen, so thank you so much. These songs are my little symbol of moving on and appreciating growing up in music, so they mean a lot to me, and I hope they mean something to you too 🖤”
The track was written by Connie Talbot, Emily Phillips, and Alfie Jackson. Produced by Ant Whiting.
The accompanying music video was created by Brad Tyler.
- The song is, in her own words, “a dark lullaby”. Connie Talbot said of the song, “This song is a metaphor of how we often deal with a breakup. I wanted to bring humour and drama to an uncomfortable issue. I think it’s almost a dark lullaby. On first listen, it sounds quite sinister, but there is some empowerment in the song, with letting go of things that are holding you back. I think this message really came from how I feel I have grown personally over these last few years, letting go of things that I have felt tied up in, and also musically changing. These are songs I have wanted to write forever.”
