Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ M83 Announces New Album “Fantasy”, Shares New Song “Oceans Niagara”
French electronic music project M83, consisting of Anthony Gonzalez, announced the ninth studio album “Fantasy” would be released on March 17, 2923 via Virgin Records France and Mute Records.
It is the first project in four years since the 2019 album “DSVII”.
From the album, M83 released the first single called “Oceans Niagara” on January 10, 2023.
The track was written by Anthony Gonzalez, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joe Berry, Loïc Maurin, and Yann Gonzalez.
Produced by Anthony Gonzalez and Justin Meldal-Johnsen. The accompanying music video was direcyed by Anthony Gonzalez's brother Yann Gonzalez.
“I wanted to create this sense of friendship,” Anthony Gonzalez said of the single. “Listening to that song, I imagine people running, driving fast, or riding spaceships together. It’s this sense of going forward, like a magic potion that you take to discover new worlds.”- The album comprises 13-track, featuring guest appearance from Kaela.
Anthony Gonzalez said of the album, “I wanted this record to be very impactful live,” “The idea was to come back with something closer to the energy of Before The Dawn Heals Us. The combination of guitars and synths is always in my music, but it’s maybe more present on this new record than on the previous ones… I wanted to be more present lyrically and vocally even if that was daunting at first. I thought if I could achieve that, this album will be more personal than those that came before.” -
