Peter Gabriel Returns With New Song “Panopticom (Bright Side Mix)”
Last November, British singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel announced his upcoming 10th studio album “i/o” and the 2023 i/o tour across the UK and Europe.
The new album is his first own original project in 21 years since the 2002 album “Up”.
Peter Gabriel said, “I'm now surrounded by a whole ton of new material I've pretty much got an album ready and it's been a lot of fun playing with the band again, and I'm excited about the idea of taking a lot of new material with me out on the road, and I hope to see some of you there.”
From the album, he unveiled the first single called “Panopticom (Bright Side Mix)” on January 6, 2023.
The track was written and produced by Peter Gabriel, who recorded at Real World Studios in Wiltshire and The Beehive in London.
Peter Gabriel said of the song, “The first song is based on an idea I have been working on to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe: The Panopticom. We are beginning to connect a like-minded group of people who might be able to bring this to life, to allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what's really going on.”- jfW1GDu7gxw

Musically, Panopticom drives along powered by the engine-room of long-time collaborators Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché, underpinned by haunting electronics from Brian Eno. Additional backing vocals come from Ríoghnach Connolly of The Breath. The lyric is, in part, inspired by the extraordinary work of three groups, Forensic Architecture, Bellingcat and the Gabriel co-founded pioneering human rights organisation WITNESS.
The new album is expected to be released in 2023.
The tour kicks off at TAURON Arena in Krakow, Poland on May 18, 2023 and will conclude at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on June 25, 2023.
