Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Priya Ragu Premieres New Song “Adalam Va!” on BBC Radio 1
Tamil-Swiss singer-songwriter Priya Ragupathylingam, aka Priya Ragu premiered a new song “Adalam Va!” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the follow-up to “Illuminous”, which was released back in March.
The track was written by Priya Ragu, Japhna Gold and Priya Ragu. Produced by Japhna Gold.
The accompanying video was directed by Sasha Nathwani.
Priya Ragu said of the song, “I was outside the studio one day and Japhna was working on this new beat. I stormed straight in to find out what he was working on - I was convinced it was a banga. We immediately started to write out the lyrics and before we knew it we had the track completed that day.”
She added, “Thanks to Sasha Nathwani for bring our vision to life, it was such a pleasure working with you and your team. I can't believe I've learnt this Choreo and Marshall Arts within 2 days!! LOL Thank you Supple my Mr. Miyagi. This one's for you guys, I hope you like it.”- Priya Ragu told Clara Amfo, “Basically I've been like touring, playing a lot of festivals, and was working on new songs at the same time. And sometimes you kind of forget to consciously breathe. And some of the sometimes you just have to step back and inhale and exhale, just to tune in with yourself.”
She continued, “I would say I haven't expected this actually. Because it's been so traveling and athlete countless shows. I think it's over 40, I only have like the best memories ever. And now I really can't wait to release this song because I've been waiting a long time for this. And this one is really close to my heart.” - source : BBC Radio 1
