American singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence returned with a new song “Morning” on September 23, 2022 via Atlantic Records.
It is her first music since the 2021 EP “Charlotte”.
The track was written by Charlotte Lawrence, Andy D. Park, and Benjamin D. Gibbard. Produced by Andy D. Park and Ben Gibbard.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jason Lester. Also, her parents American actress Christa Miller and American screenwriter Bill Lawrence appeared on the video as cameo.
Charlotte Lawrence said of the song, “’Morning’ is my first collaboration with Ben Gibbard. Death Cab and The Postal Service were huge influences in my formative years of songwriting and lyric appreciation. To work with a hero of mine and have him and Andy Park, so graciously, make me feel as though I was on their level and create a safe place where we could be vulnerable, elevated me to a place where I feel I have made the best art I have been able to make thus far.”
She continued, “I am so proud of this song because I believe it reflects my point of view both lyrically and musically as a woman just trying to heal some pain and figure out how I feel and what I want. It’s okay to not always know. That’s part of the journey and I’m okay with that.”- Charlotte Lawrence shared on social media, “This song means more to me than I could ever explain. I wrote this song with Ben Gibbard and Andy Park, the two most talented and kind and fucking hilarious, incredible people I’ve ever worked with. For real though I’ve never seen raw talent like theirs’ before. Ben has been a hero of mine since I first heard Plans and forced my dad to play Brothers on a Hotel Bed every single morning on my way to school for about 2 years straight. No lie. To get to not only work with you guys, but to also get to call you my friends matters more to me than anything. I’ve never felt so connected to my music. This song is my whoooole heart n soul poured into 3 min something seconds long. I feel I’ve found my voice and I can’t wait to show you more.”
