  • Ali Gatie Releases New Song “The Look” featuring Kehlani from Debut Album “WHO HURT YOU?”

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Ali Gatie released his debut album “WHO HURT YOU?” along with a new music video for “The Look” on August 12, 2022.

“The Look” features American singer-songwriter Kehlani.
This marks the first collaboration between Ali Gatie and Kehlani.
Ali Gatie said, “I've been a fan of Kehlani for a while and have been waiting for the right song to send her. [I'm] so happy it ended up being this one.”
Kehlani said, “Ali is so talented and really cares about his fans. It was awesome to work with someone so humble and kind.”
The track was written by Ali Gatie, Kehlani Parrish, Pablo Bowman, Matt Campfield, Danny Klein, Lee Major and Sean Momberger.
Produced by Chris Argueta, Some Randoms, Lee Major, and Sean Momberger. The video was directed by Justin Abernathy.
“You hear 'The Look' featuring Kehlani, and you would never expect it from me,” he said of the song. “It's a sexy song, lyrically. There's a story and there's a concept, like all my songs, but it's not gonna hit you in the feels. It's going to make you want to dance.”
  • The debut album comprises 17-track, including preceding singles “Can't Give Up”, “Perfect” and “Crying in the Rain”.
The album follows up the 2021 EP “The Idea Of Her” and draws his journey from a struggling, hard-up teen to a 25-year-old singer-songwriter.
Also, the album reflects a marked evolution of sensitive and emotionally rich songwriting. It finds he searching for love in a world that's often painful, and making tracks for listeners who feel the same. It also introduces another side of Ali that exudes confidence and swagger while still rooted in love and connection. He said, “it's meant to be escapist too.”
Ali Gatie told Complex Canada, “I've always been searching for love—in my career, in my love life, in my family. The concept is who hurt Ali Gatie, right? The acronym is WHY? If you're so interested in who hurt Ali Gatie, who hurt you? There's a reason I wrote the record, but there's a reason you're listening.”
