Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer-songwriter salem ilese released a new song “Moment Of Silence” along with a music video on July 15, 2022.
Back in June, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the constitution does not confer to the right to an abortion, overruling Roe v. Wade and handing over abortion laws to the states.
At the same time, there have been many mass shootings across the nation, bringing America's gun laws to the forefront of public debate.
Considering these circumstances, she decided to release the new song “Moment Of Silence”. Proceeds of the song will go to repro rights as well as the fight for gun control.
Before the release of the song, she asked her fans to send their protest videos for making a music video, “Calling every one with a uterus!! I'm releasing song a July 15th about hypocrisy of how reproductive rights are banned, but guns aren't. Proceeds are going to repro rights as well as the fight for gun control. If you support theses causes, I want you in the music video!! Send me a video of either a protest you attended, or what having a uterus means to you. It can be anything: you feeling your best, hanging with friends, doing something you love... whatever makes you feel powerful in your body.“
