Jessie Reyez Releases New Song “FRAUD”
- Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez released a new song “FRAUD” along with a music video on June 24, 2022.
The song follows up the 2021 collaborative song “Rain” with grandson and Idris Elba from the superhero film “The Suicide Squad” soundtrack.
But it is her first own music in two years since the 2020 debut album “Before Love Came to Kill Us”.
The track was written by Jessie Reyez, and Tim Suby, who also produced it.
The vode was directed by Emma Higgins and Jessie Reyez herself.
Jessie Reyez shared on social media, “Nostalgic dump in honor of the release tonight. Wild to see what time and effort produce.
During these last couple years I think the best thing I ever did for myself was realize I really just needed to be my own best friend. A lot of people are looking out for themselves and it's not the worst thing. You just have to ride for yourself but find balance. Balance between being selfish enough to be healthy and thennn healthy enough to help others. I'm not perfect or near it, so I suppose you could argue that all this self help minutia I've been into is bs and call me fraud. Or maybe not. Maybe healing's just not linear.”
She continued, “The day this song came to be, I remember walking into the telly filled to the brim with anger and self hate because I couldn't understand why I wasn't enough. I opened my Dropbox and dove into Timmy's beat folder searching for a home to lay my emotions to rest. A voice note later, Fraud was born.”
