Calum Scott Releases New Song “Boys In The Street”
- British singer-songwriter Calum Scott released a new song “Boys In The Street” along with a music video.
The song is the fifth single off of his upcoming sophomore album “Bridges”, which is set to be released on June 17, 2022.
It was written by Greg Holden and produced by Andrew Yeates. the video was directed by Jackson Ducasse.
“'Boys in the Street' is one of the few songs that has made me cry on the first listen,” Calum Scott said of the song. “I connected to the original version instantly, and had wanted to record my own interpretation for the last few years. When I'd finished my second album, I had the time to craft my own version, and immediately got in touch with Greg to ask for his blessing. I knew it would fit perfectly on Bridges, and in some ways was the song I was missing. I'm honoured to include this powerful and inspiring piece on my sophomore record - I know it's a song that not only I can relate to, but will resonate with others around the world.”
He shared on social media, “I'm incredibly proud to share with you my version of Greg Holden's incredible song, 'Boys In The Street'. It's a song that I think represents the very real pain in many people's journeys but also provides comfort in the hope for love and understanding.”
He continued, “I have had my own journey with my sexuality and it was rough - the feeling of not being accepted or loved for who you are is crippling and it's hard to describe it to people who haven't had the same experience but I think this song does that beautifully. The pain, the tragedy and the hope and compassion that many long for I think is beautifully captured in this song and I think even if you don't have a connection to the LGBTQ+ community, this story will open your eyes to the very real situations some people are in. I have also recorded an official video to capture the raw passion I have for this song and exactly what I give to it to bring it to life.”
