mehro Performs at NPR Music Tiny Desk (Home) Concert
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter mehro appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk (Home) Concert to perform “chance with you”, “hideous”, “like you're god” and “perfume”.
“chance with you”, “hideous” and “perfume” are included on his 7-track debut album “SKY ON FIRE”, which was released in March 2021.
“like you're god” is his latest song, which was released back in February.
mehro said of “chance with you”, "When I wrote 'chance with you,' it was an acknowledgement that I let something slip through my fingers. I let fear overpower my desires, and I won't let that happen again.”
He said of “hideous”, “When I wrote this song, I was in a dark place. When I closed my eyes, my thoughts were ones of self-hatred. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a monster. I was hurt and had to express that pit of disgust, to not let it fester inside of me. I was devastated and couldn't live with that feeling, and it started to eat me up alive. So instead of internalizing, I wrote the song. It was therapy for me.”
He said of “like you're god”, “This song speaks into existence a side of me that I don't share with most people. I am very private. So this song feels particularly gut wrenching to release. I feel exposed, vulnerable and nervous. That's how I know I need to let it go.”
“perfume” was released in February 2020 as his debut song and accrued over 6.7 million streams in less than a year.-
