American country music singer-songwriter Maren Morris has released the second single called “Background Music” from her upcoming third major label studio album “Humble Quest”, following “Circles Around This Town”.
It was written by Maren Morris, Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins. Produced by Greg Kurstin.
“I wrote this about the beauty of the temporary, which is inevitably all things. The romanticism of eternity sounds nice, but I like to think I savor things better when I know I'm not entitled to it in perpetuity,” Maren Morris shared on social media. “It's a love song that addresses mortality but it's also promising someone that even when we aren't cool anymore, I want to grow old with them and laugh about the times we thought we were.”
The new album was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic and comprises 11-track.
“It's a lot country-er on an instrumental level," she said of the album. "And rootsy-er than my last record which was very pop heavy. It's a really hopeful record.”
