Charli XCX Premieres New Song “Beg for You” featuring Rina Sawayama on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Charli XCX and Japanese singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama teamed up to premiere a new song “Beg for You” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the third single off of Charli XCX's upcoming fifth studio album “Crash”, following “Good Ones” and “New Shapes”.
This marks the first collaboration between Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama.
The track was written by Alexander Soifer, Anoo Bhagavan, Charlotte Aitchison, Charlotte Aitchison, Nicholas Gale, Jonas Von der Burg, Niklas von der Burg, Rina Sawayama, Rollo and Sorana. Produced by Digital Farm Animals.
Charli XCX told Clara Amfo about the song, “Just collaboration, I think was a long time coming for us. We'd been speaking on and off for quite a few years about the idea of doing something together. And we did actually try like a demo like a few years ago now. And I mean, this song basically came about that I got sent like a rough sketch of this chorus I remember I was driving in the car listening to it when I was in LA and I was just it was making me feel extremely nostalgic. And of course as you said the sample which I mean I love September. I love the original and I feel like it's something that my fans really connected with as well that kind of like Euro dance pop thing. And then I just kind of had a brain wave. It's like okay, I have to send this to Rina because I feel like this could be the one and it was because seriously Rina when you sent me back your vocals I was like oh my god, we've done it. They're gonna it's gonna be so good.”- Rina Sawayama said, “I mean, I've done remixes with incredible people like Pablo and three runway and obviously Elton as well, but they've been some my friends, but would you walk with an original song together. It's the first time and like same with Charlie like we're both pretty particular about things and we only do things if it's right and this song is such a binary like this really stood out and I was like, and obviously it's Charlie as well.”
