  • Kojey Radical Premieres New Song “Payback” featuring Knucks on BBC Radio 1

  • British poet and singer-songwriter Kojey Radical premiered a new song “Payback” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

He worked with London-based rapper Knucks on the track.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming long-awaited debut album “Reason To Smile”.
It was written by Cameron Palmer, Knucks and Kwadwo Adu Genfi Amponsah.
Kojey Radical told Clara Amfo about the song, “I think for me this record is just pure energy. And I think from the moment that we decided to make the record and I hope this kind of just gonna say this is me, it was almost like a medium that we went back and forth for us. We just wanted to make a record that felt like a celebration of blackness, but also just like a celebration of community and culture and self identity and pride. And that can exist for everybody. So it's just that moment where you feel like you take control back into your own hands and realize no one company is the product.”
  • The new is set to be released on March 4, 2022. The album comprises 15-track, featuring guest appearances from Lex Amor, Knucks, Tiana Major9, Masego, Shaé Universe, Cash, Kelis, Shakka, Wretch 32, Ego Ella May, and Rexx Life Raj.
He said of the album, “The days I would open days and I think for me, we just came down to a confidence thing I made projects in the past that were revered or people people really enjoyed them. But for me anyway, I didn't have that confidence to stand behind it and say, This is my album. And I think with this with this body of work, the music really speaks for itself. I don't think we would have got free, if it didn't speak for itself. I'm just proud to stand behind the songs. I'm proud to have work with the people that I've managed to work with so far. I'm proud to have picked singles that are with up and coming UK talent whether that's Lex Amor, Knucks. I'm proud to have the producers that I have around me. I'm just excited people to hear, honestly.”
