Mitski Releases New Song “Heat Lightning”
Japanese-American singer-songwriter Mitski has released a new song “Heat Lightning” along with a lyric video created by Alex Moy.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming sixth studio album “Laurel Hell”, following "Working for the Knife" and “The Only Heartbreaker”.
“I needed love songs about real relationships that are not power struggles to be won or lost,” Mitski said of the new song. “I needed songs that could help me forgive both others and myself. I make mistakes all the time. I don't want to put on a front where I'm a role model, but I'm also not a bad person. I needed to create this space mostly for myself where I sat in that gray area.”
The new album comprises 11-track and is set to be released on February 4, 2022. It is her first project in four years.
She embarks on North America and Europe tour in support of the album in 2022. The tour kicks off at The Orange Peel in Asheville on February 17, 2022.
