SAYANA Releases New Song “Small Talk”
- Toronto-based singer-songwriter SAYANA is back with a new song “Small Talk”. It is her first single since the 2020 songs “Salty Water”.
The track was written by SAYANA. Produced by Roy Hamilton III and SAYANA.
“Small Talk” is a refined ballad with her emotional vocals unlike R&B vibe previous song.
SAYANA said of the song, “I wrote 'Small Talk' about running into an ex when you're not quite ready to see them yet. You avoid eye contact and make awkward conversation, all the while wondering how your once 'big love' has turned into nothing but 'Small Talk.'”
She continued, “The song wasn't inspired by any particular person or event in my life (I've barely left my house since COVID started, so I'm not running into anyone these days…), but there was definitely a point in my life when I'd wonder what it would be like to run into an ex. This song is for anyone who's wondering the same thing. When you're with someone and they tell you a big secret, it feels very special and intimate. It feels like you've found the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with.”
- She explained of lyrics, “Bet there's now someone else who knows" is the bitter realization that you weren't the one – you weren't special. They've said (and will continue to say) those same words to God knows how many people after you… "Our big love turns to small talk" is a simple juxtaposition, but it speaks volumes about how a person might feel about a past relationship.”
