Craig David & MNEK Drop New Music Video for “Who You Are”
- Last week, British singer-songwriter Craig David teamed up with British singer-songwriter MNEK to release a new song “Who You Are”.
This marks the first collaboration between Craig David and MNEK. But MNEK co-wrote Craig David's “Change My Love” in 2016.
The song will appear on Craig David's upcoming eighth studio album “22”, which is set to be released on May13, 2022.
Both artist have dropped a new music video for the song directed by Samuel Douek.
Also, the pair performed the song on BBC Strictly Come Dancing.
Craig David said, “I always feel like you need to be more real-time and present in the now. It will live in the world this song. It feels so authentic, it has intention. Put on 'Who You Are' to try and talk to someone that needs help.”
MNEK said, “I've worked with Craig many times over the past several years and have obviously looked up to him for FOREVER, one of my childhood heroes easily and such a pioneer for black men in R&B & dance music … So, now we have this collaboration Who You Are. I love this song more every time I listen to it, it's so beautiful – and there's just something about it. I wrote the hook, he wrote the verses, he really wanted me to stay on it with him and like… who's actually gonna say no to Craig David? He's the best 'to do it'! This is absolutely a tick off the bucket list for me and I hope it touches the people who hear it.”
MNEK shared on social media, “hiiii. so, this is the Who You Are Craig David video- i wanted to take the time to talk about it - I was gonna do the whole 'Out Now' boring caption thing but I wanna do this instead if that's ok.
so, when we'd finished recording on Who You Are, I told Craig I had an idea that the video could touch on the pressures of masculinity & femininity in its own way. He + Sam loved it and all our respective teams worked together to bring this to life. Craig + I are really proud of it and really hope you enjoy it as much as we do and that it genuinely adds another layer to the song.”
