- Los Angeles-based DJ trio Cheat Codes, consisting of Kevin Ford, Trevor Dahl, and Matthew Russell, released their sophomore album “Hellraisers Part 2” on October 15, 2021.
The album itself has three parts, each part has a distinct sound influenced by each member. The first part is focused on Trevor Dahl's pop-leaning sound, while the second part is focused on Kevin Ford's pop-punk-influenced sound, and the third part will be focused on Matthew Russell's dance-influenced sound.
The name of the album, “Hellraisers” was the nickname given to the group by their late manager, Michael Theanne, who passed away over a year ago, describing their playful and adventurous lifestyle.
The new album comprises 13-track featuring guest appearances from Travis Barker, Tove Styrke, Tyson Ritter, All Time Low, Bring Me The Horizon, Oliver Sykes, blackbear, PRINCE$$ ROSIE, Trippie Redd and Charlotte Sands.
- The trio said of the album, “Ever since we started Cheat Codes we've hated the idea of being kept in a box of one genre. We've always wanted to be able to experiment, push the envelope, and blur the lines between different types of music. With part two of the album, we want to try something new never done before. Some thing that brings us all the way back to where it all started for us as kids. All these songs have an alternative/pop-punk twist to them, which is something totally new for us. Being able to work with artists that we grew up listening to has been mind blowing. These artists helped shape us into the the artists we are today, so being able to work them has been such an amazing full circle experience. And you've all been so supportive while we take this next step on our musical journey. We can't thank you enough.”
