HURU Returns With New Song “Slow Motion”
- London-based singer-songwriter HURU returned with a new song “Slow Motion” on September 10, 2021.
The track is her first project since the 2019 single “Elsewhere”.
She wrote the song during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Co-produced by Scott Colcombe.
The song features her unique sound, which she calls “Cosmic,” harmonizing poetic lyricism and hooky melodies with electronic and atmospheric sounds.
HURU shared on social media, “'Slow Motion' sheds light on the epiphany I had whilst on a government approved walk in the peak of the first UK lockdown. I realised that having things completely slow down in my life, as challenging as it had been, was important for my personal development and growth as an infinite light being having a human experience.”
The accompanying music video for the song was directed by Kristian Fitsall.
Kristie Fitsall and Cody Leigh-Stannard (DOP) have realized the fascinating visuals of this reflexive and meditative song.
In the clip, HURU explored the concept of darkness and light and how the understanding of this duality can bring the opportunity of growth and transformation. Shot a few months after a turbulent time for the black community, it was also important to her to celebrate black beauty, black creativity and expression within these visuals.
