American singer-songwriter Cyn joined in a mystery film “Promising Young Woman” soundtrack.
On March 6th, the lead single “Drinks” was released from the soundtrack with an accompanying music video directed by Taylor Fauntleroy.
“'Drinks' is a song that started off as a joke, ‘he got mad, so I got drinks,'” Cyn said in a press statement. “I knew as soon as I said it, the line would find its way into a chorus. Upon watching the movie, Promising Young Woman, I felt more inspired to finish my song. The chorus was written before I saw the movie, and the verses were written in consideration of the movie -- knowing that may make a listening experience a little more interesting.”
“'Drinks' and the movie complement one another thematically,” she continued. “For example, both pieces reveal moments of friendship, allegiance, hardship, strength, and of course, pose scenarios where drinks are acquired. I am so excited and thankful for the opportunity to contribute to such an incredible soundtrack.”
The film “Promising Young Woman” was directed by Emerald Fennell in her directorial debut. It stars Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Clancy Brown, Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton and Laverne Cox.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival back in January and hits theaters on April 17th.- YQbpkaTIQ2M
