American DJ Kaskade dropped a new music video for “Cold As Stone” featuring Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence. Directed by Jakub Blank.
The song was released last Month, following his 10th studio album "Kaskade Christmas".
The sound is inspired by Brazil, “That sound, they’ve really kind of honed it [in Brazil] over this last year,” he told Billboard. “And they’ve been doing it and LA’s got their version of it happening, so I feel like worlds are kind of colliding right now, but I really love it cause it speaks to that house music lover inside of me that I just naturally kind of go to, but it’s heavier and has a lot of energy, but it’s slow enough that it’s still got the funk and swing and I think it’s a fun thing.”
Charlotte Lawrence is known as American actress Christa Miller's daughter, he describes the 17-year-old as “an amazing young talent…that just blew me away when I first heard her sing and I’m really lucky to have her featured on this song.”- Kaskade said of the song in a press release;
"’Cold as Stone’ presented itself as a sort of departure from the songs I’ve put out in the last while. It didn’t end up being that forever-love message we’d all love to hear. Instead, it’s an emotional reckoning from a pretty vulnerable place. Charlotte Lawrence’s voice was that perfect storm of beauty, anger and quiet strength which is a rare find. It helped paint that audio picture of falling out of love, which is painful. Even though the song is called ‘Cold as Stone,’ it will probably make quite a few people feel exactly the opposite.” -
