Billie Eilish Premieres New Song “Lovely” featuring Khalid on Apple Beats 1
- Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Billie Eilish recruited Khalid for her new song “Lovely”. The song received its first play during Apple Beats 1 with Zane Lowe.
She wrote the song with her brother Finneas O'Connell, aka FINNEAS, who is known for his role as Alistair in the Fox TV series Glee. The song follows up "bitches broken hearts".
Billie Eilish told Zane Lowe about the song;
“We called it that because the song was sort of really freaking depressing so then it’s like oh, how lovely. Just taking everything horrible like you know what this is great. I’m so happy being miserable. One thing that I’ll say is that when we wrote this actually song what was cool about it was that it wasn’t like we’re going to the studio and going to write a hit, you feel me. It was like hey come over, let’s hangout. He just came over and we hung out. Me and my brother hung out with Khalid in our house and it was literally this is us hanging out as friends and we ended up writing a song.”
Billie Eilish is known for her debut song "Ocean Eyes", which has racked up over 44 million streams on Spotify. She released a single "Bored" as part of the soundtrack to the television series "13 Reasons Why", and a debut EP "Don't Smile at Me" in 2017.
For the 2018 record store day, she has announced that she will have a 7" vinyl which will feature an acoustic version of her song "Party Favor" and an acoustic version of "Hotline Bling" by Drake.
