AURORA Premieres New Song “Queendom” on Apple Beats 1
- Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora Aksnes, aka AURORA is back. She released a new song, entitled “Queendom” for the first time in two years.
The song was first premiered live during her mini tour in Europe and officially announced on April 11st. Also she performed the song live at Coachella 2018 on April 15th. It was written by Couros, Fiona Bevan, Jakwob and AURORA.
The track is the first single off of her upcoming sophomore album (yet-untitled), which is expected to be released in fall this year.
Her debut album "All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend" was released in 2016, and she launched European tour. After the tour she began writing for the second album, and wrote 1000 songs.
She told NME about her new single;
“I think it represents a really important message. My new album has a wider perspective than I had on my first one. The world has a lot of good and bad in it, but as I say in the first verse of ‘Queendom’, ‘the underdogs are my lions, the silent ones are choir – the women will be my soldiers, the weight of life on their shoulders’. But it’s also for men, the planets and everything. It’s a very important start of my new chapter.”
She stated of the new song;
"Queendom is about celebrating all the differences in us. It’s about celebrating the women and the children and animals and the men also. The quiet ones and the introverts, where they can sing and be seen. It’s about the shy people and the lonely people and I hope it can be a place where we can come and be lonely together and then not be lonely anymore. Queendom is a place for all of us."
