MotoGP San Marino: Francesco Bagnaia Takes Four Wins In A Row at San Marino
CryptoDATA Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich watched an epic victory battle between Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) and Enea Bastianini (Gresini Ducati) at San Marino in Misano.
Eventually, Francesco Bagnaia took fourth straight victory, following Dutch TT, British GP and Austrian GP. Also he became the first Ducati rider to win four races in a row.
Enea Bastianini took 2nd place by just 0.034s behind Francesco Bagnaia. It is his fourth podium of 2022 season.
Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) had run in 2nd behind Francesco Bagnaia, but faded late on, and finally finished 3rd. It is his third podium, following Dutch TT and Austrian GP.
Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Ducati) was in 4th. The top two in the World Championship, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Yamaha) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) were locked together in 5th and 6th.
Pole sitter Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo) led in beginning of the race, but slipped out at Turn 4 on Lap 2. He remounted the race, but eventually finished 18th.
Andrea Dovizioso (WithU Yamaha RNF) scored points in his final MotoGP race with 12th.
Johann Zarco (Pramac Ducati), Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda) and Michele Pirro (Aruba.it Racing) crashed out of contention at Turn 1 on Lap 1.
This result marks Francesco Bagnaia has closed the gap to 30 points to Fabio Quartararo with six races to go in the Championship.
Francesco Bagnaia said, “I struggled at the start because the grip was not so high. I was struggling to find some traction. But my feeling with the tyres was getting better lap by lap. In the last laps, I was trying to push to open a gap, but Enea was too fast. I'm very happy to win today. It wasn't the best start from P5, but we did it. I've already made too many mistakes [this season] thinking about the championship. My objective is to now be always competitive, always fast, always in front and try to win. I don't want to think about the championship, just to be more focused on my objective and to remain focused on the schedule during the weekend. I prefer to think like that.”
