Harper Starling Releases New Song “No More What I”
- Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Harper Starling debuted a new song “No More What I” along with a music video.
She wrote the song with Cindy Valentine and Niko The Kid.
The song is a dance-pop anthem, but it's also an old-fashioned storytelling song — a tale of a creative young woman who loved her home but was also hungry for experience and recognition.
Harper Starling said of the song, “Every writing experience is unique and different and with this particular song, ‘No More What If,’ I was lucky that my co-writing partner, Cindy Valentine is nocturnal and came up with a melody and rough instrumental at 3AM. The next day we talked about our similar journeys of pursuing our dreams in LA and we combined our stories to create the lyrics for ‘No More What If.’ Niko The Kid then came on board to add his magic to the track.”
- The accompanying video was directed by Devin J. Dilmore. She explained of the video concept, “…was a collaborative effort between myself and Cindy Valentine. We followed the lyrical journey and created a story around that, but we also wanted the video to be uplifting and fun. The making of the music video was a nostalgic experience because it allowed me to relive those moments when I uprooted from Wisconsin to Los Angeles. It was a bonus to also be surrounded by some of my best friends in the music video and have a lot of fun making it.”
