Peter Jessy Releases New Song “Daydream”
- Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Peter Jessy released a new song “Daydream”.
The song is the first single off of his upcoming debut EP. It was written by Pierre Jessy Sirois and produced by Michael Watson.
“It's a happy-sounding sad song with a melody of ukulele, bells, and whistles that brighten the dark lyrics. It's about choosing to daydream rather than deal with the reality of things,” Peter Jessy said of the song. “Sometimes we force happiness because it's easier to romanticize things than to admit we're hurting. In my case, that means fantasizing about all the good aspects of a relationship to avoid the harsh truth.”
He added, “Daydream" isn't about a specific person, but rather about my bad habit of falling for boys who aren't good for me.”
Peter Jessy is focusing on developing his own indie-pop sound. In writing his music, he draws from his own personal experience with mental illness, the LGBT community, and relationships in hopes that others with similar experiences can take comfort in knowing they aren't alone.
The debut EP is expected to be released in 2021.
