Laura Mvula Releases New Song “What Matters” featuring Simon Neil
- British singer-songwriter Laura Mvula has released a new song “What Matters” from her upcoming third studio album “Pink Noise”.
This time, she teamed up Scottish guitarist and singer-songwriter Simon Neil on the track.
Laura Mvula co-wrote the song with Dann Hume and produced. It is '80s pop sound vibe.
Sha has already filmed the music video for the song, which will be premiered soon.
The new album is set to be released on July 2, 2021. It is her first album under her new label Atlantic Records after leaving Sony's RCA Victor label.
Recently, she has opened up about how she felt after she was dropped by her former label.
She received an email from RCA that her five-album deal was over in 2017. Laura Mvula told Music Week, “I was very much aware that I wasn't charting. It's not like my albums were hitting the Top 10 and staying there. It was pretty intense. It was a very brief note saying that they were so grateful, but this was the end of the road. It's a hard thing to make sense of and to come back from.”
She said, “I still feel this kind of resentment. And, you know, my ego suffered a lot. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make another album, at first.”
But she will release the new album. “I wanted to make loud music. I needed nostalgia. I needed hope.”
