American singer-songwriter Willow Smith, aka WILLOW teamed up with Travis Barker of blink-182 to release a new song “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l”.
The song will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album (yet-untitled), which is due out this summer. It was written by Willow Smith, Travis Barker and Tyler Cole, who also produced the track.
“I am so grateful for this tune because it was created in such an introspective time (during the first couple months of quarantine),” Willow Smith said in a press release. “It was the song that proved to me that I needed to let go of the insecurities I had about making a project of this genre.”
She told Zane Lowe with Apple Music 1 about recording a song with Travis Barker, "Travis is one of my favorite artists. And it's so interesting because he is a drummer, but he's so much more than that. Being in the studio with him really showed me how multi-dimensional his artistry really is ... He literally heard the song once and played it. He was like, 'Oh, that's perfect,' one day and played it perfectly once."- Willow Smith is better known as a daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. “I was always so inspired by the power of her voice,” she said of her mother and her Rock sound. "I never felt like I could sing that kind of music because I was always trained to sing R&B and pop ... I realized that it's not my voice that can't sing this kind of music. I was afraid to sing this kind of music because I wasn't sure what people would think.”
