Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Jesse Ruben released a new song “Whole World Watches” on October 30, 2020.
The track is his second single of 2020, following “Future” released back in September.
The song expresses that Jesse Ruben feel about what's happening in the world right now. It features acoustic folk sound vibe unlike previous song. Produced by Dwighta Baker.
“Being in New York City the day after Trump won in 2016 was heartbreaking. Everyone was walking around with a dazed look on their faces, staring at the ground,” Jesse Ruben said. “It was like we were all grieving together. In hindsight, we were. I was angry, and scared, and embarrassed. I felt like I had to apologize every time I talked to someone who lived outside the US. I didn't know how bad it was going to get. I didn't yet know about the coronavirus, the fires destroying California, the devastation in Puerto Rico, the racism, the rise in antisemitism and white supremacy, the "good people on both sides", the lying, the corruption, any of it. I just knew that we as a country had failed. And I did the only thing I knew to do, which was write about it. As we lead up to another election four years later, I truly hope the outcome is different this time.”- source : Parade
