Hannah May Premieres New Song “Pretty Girl”
The X Factor NZ Finalist, Brisbane-based country pop music singer-songwriter Hannah May premiered a new song “Pretty Girl” on June 19th.
She worked with producers Matt Fell of Sydney and Matt Bartlem of Gold Coast for the new song. The track builds throughout, starting with an acoustic guitar and ends up as a big pop anthem.
The song is drawn about standing up against standards of society through the powerful lyrics. Hannah May shared on social media, “I’m not a pretty girl. I’m more than that and to anyone who has ever felt overlooked and undervalued because you don’t look a certain way let your abilities, mind and determination outshine everyones expectations. We are far more than just the way we look.”
Hannah May was part of X Factor New Zealand's Top 10 finalists in 2017, then she signed to Sony Music as the duo Mae Valley.
The duo released 3 singles and music videos for “Brightside”, “Glitter” and “Turns Out” and an EP which featured in top 10 on the NZ music charts.
In 2018 after leaving Mae Valley, she released her self-written debut country pop single “Finally” as solo artist, produced by Nic Manders.
Back in January, she released the single “Passenger Seat” for the first time in two years.- source : New Zealand Music Commission
