  • Matías Roden Releases New Song “Please”

  • Vancouver-based pop singer-songwriter Matías Roden released a new song “Please” on April 30, 2025.

The track was inspired by a month spent immersed in London's vibrant queer club scene and is a synth-pop exploration of heartbreak, self-discovery, and the euphoria of London's gay nightlife.
Lyrically, the track wrestles with the lingering ache of heartbreak, while teasing out the complexity of pleasure and pain.
The song is the follow-up to “Disease with No Name”, which was released back in March.
Both songs will appear on his upcoming debut album, which is set to be released later this year.
The track was written and produced by Matías Roden, with production by Louise Burns.

Matías Roden said of the song, “I wanted the song to feel elegant, but still raw – like a real memory. It's about falling fast for someone who's not good for you and knowing they might even enjoy watching you suffer. And at the same time, it's joyful. It's nostalgic. It's me fully stepping into who I am as an artist, as a gay man, and as someone who finds healing in movement.”
  • He continued, “This song was inspired by the music I heard when I lived in Soho, the heart of London's gay nightlife scene, for a month back in 2023. It's my homage to the gay heroes of 80s British Pop music like Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and Bronski Beat, with a modern twist. This song is my first track that I conceived with the express intent of being played in a club, I hope it makes you want to move like nobody's watching.”
