MEGGO Releases New Song “brooklyn pt. 1”
Montreal-based singer-songwriter and Canadian indie rock band FLEECE's member Megan Ennenberg, aka MEGGO released a new song “brooklyn pt. 1” on November 26, 2024.
The song will appear on her upcoming debut EP “eavesdropper ;; death stories {chapter1}”, which is set to be released in January 2025.
The track was recorded through an iPhone voice memo on a Brooklyn rooftop, and is infused with intimate, found sounds: the murmur of a crowded bar, the intricate chords of a jazz musician, the hum of a busy street.
It was written and produced by Megan Ennenberg.
Megan Ennenberg said of the song, “I like naming songs after where most of the collected sounds come from; Brooklyn, New York, where this track was born, feels like its own character in the song. 'pt. 1' hints there's more to the journey - a story that unfolds with time. It's been a long journey of experimentation. At the end, you'll hear a raw moment of me working through the song in real time - a reminder that the creative process isn't always polished. It's exciting to me to release a song that has an obvious mistake in it. I want people to ask themselves 'Why does hearing someone make a mistake make me uncomfortable?' MEGGO is about taking risks and being real, and sharing what that looks like.”- New EP is a rare glimpse into MEGGO's creative world, where every song is built around fragments of life, heard and recorded in the raw moments of their inception.
Throughout the EP are hidden treasures; a thunderstorm that started while on the phone with a friend who was moving home to be with a sick parent; a squeaky gate closing; a dog running past at a dogpark after her dog had passed away; a yawn; footsteps in the forest. -
