The Scarlet Opera Covers Belinda Carlisle's “Heaven Is A Place On Earth”
Los Angeles-based rock band The Scarlet Opera, consisting of Luka Bazulka (vocals), Colin Kenrick (keyboard), Daniel Zuker (bass), Justin Siegal (drums) and Chance Taylor (guitar), released a cover of American singer-songwriter Belinda Carlisle's “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” on September 20, 2024.
The song initially shined as a live favorite in The Scarlet Opera's set. Belinda Carlisle caught wind of their rendition and immediately lent her stamp of approval.
The original version of the song was released by Belinda Carlisle as the lead single from her second studio album “Heaven on Earth” in 1987.
The song reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles chart.
The track was written by Ellen Shipley and Rick Nowels. The cover version was produced by John Christopher Fee, and Rick Nowels who is original producer and co-writer, this time he worked with the band.
The band said of the song, “We thrive on sweeping epic gestures of romance, and truly no other decade was quite as melodramatic as the 80's, so of course our first ever studio cover release would be exactly this. Besides, Belinda gave her blessing and Rick produced it so, duh.”- Photo by Dani Califorñia
