Ashnikko Releases New Song “Cheerleader”
London-based American singer-songwriter Ashnikko released a brand new song “Cheerleader” on July 28, 2023.
The song is the fifth single off of their upcoming debut album “WEEDKILLER”, which is set to be released on August 25, 2023.
The track was written by Ashton Nicole Casey, Micah Jasper, Oscar Scheller, and Slinger. Produced by Micah Jasper and Slinger.
Ashnikko said of the song, “It's twisting this perfect cheerleader into a monstrosity. It's commentary on the need to be fuckable to be commercially viable, and I really do feel that pressure. It's so tiring and played out.”
They continued, “No matter how much logic I've built up in my head, there's still some carnal part of my brain that says 'you have to be fuckable to sell this music, bitch!' It's draining on my spirit and makes me feel like I have literal car exhaust in my brain.”
“WEEDKILLER” is their first project in two years since the 2021 debut mixtape “Demidevil”.
The album comprises 13-track, featuring guest appearances from Daniela Lalita, and Ethel Cain. Produced by Dylan Brady, Slinger, Oscar Scheller, Daniela Lalita, and Micah Jasper.- source : Apple Music
