Nashville-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Caroline Roman has announced her first EP “A Brief Epic” will be released on July 28, 2023.
The EP comprises 6-track, including the preceding singles “Mississippi Air” and “Guts”.
It is her first project since the 2022 debut album “Oddities & Prodigies”.
“Suddenly, the poems make sense, and the Greeks, in all their prolonged ramblings, seem sparse in description. It is there, in that terrible, tragic, impossibly beautiful thing, that you find yourself in trouble,” Caroline Romano explained. “I used to write about my brain, and the weather, and how many days were left until I felt like somebody.”
She continued, “Now I write about this. In the wake of it all I've written too many songs to count, but these seem to be the ones to tell the story, epically, and in brevity. Like it was. This is a brief epic. The EP.”- From the EP, she unveiled the third single called “This House” on June 23, 2023.
The track was written by Caroline Romano, Spencer Jordan, and Andrew Gomez who also produced it.
Caroline Romano said of the song, “‘This House’ is about the self-inflicted bruises that come with trying to make something work that inevitably never will. It’s about so desperately wanting that person to look at you a certain way, but always feeling like they see right through you. It’s painting the walls just to have them draw all over it, and building a house just for them burn. I guess it’s not really about unrequited love, but about just not having quite enough of it.” -
