Alexander Stewart Releases New Song “i'm trying”
Los Angeles-based Canadian singer-songwriter Alexander Stewart released a new song “i'm trying” on May 19, 2023.
The song is the follow-up to “leave me in the dark”, which was released last month.
The track was written by Alexander Stewart, Sara Davis, Skyler Stonestreet, and Nick Monson. Produced by Adam Yaron.
“This is a deeply personal song to me. It's the first song I've ever released about my own struggles with anxiety, depression and OCD. When I was younger and didn't understand why,” Alexander Stewart said of the song, “I was feeling this way, it was terrifying. After years of growing, learning, and LOTS of therapy, I decided it was time to write about this side of my life. It's called 'i'm trying'. My hopes in putting this song out is to let others know they're not alone. If you're struggling please reach out to friends and family. You are so loved, so cared about, and so deserving of a beautiful life.”
- Alexander Stewart told Clash Magazine about the music video, “The shoot was fun and also emotional. Everyone was a dream to work with. We shot it over two days, with the second day having a call time of 5am which was difficult after getting home at 1am from the shoot the day before haha! I love video shoots. I think it's such a special thing to bring these visuals in my head that correlate with the song to life. As I'm writing music, I'm always thinking about the visual.”
He will support American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth's “Charlie the Live Experience”. The tour kicks off at Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico city, Mexico on May 21, 2023.
