  • Sub Focus Premieres New Song “I Found You” featuring Hayla on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based DJ Nicolaas Douwma, aka Sub Focus premiered a new song “I Found You” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

This time, he teamed up with British singer-songwriter Hayla on the track.
The song will appear on his upcoming album “Evolve”, which is due out this Friday (May 12th).
The track was written by Nicolaas Douwma, Hayley Philippa Williams, James Pountney, Rebecca Claire Hill, and Lauren Amber Aquilina. Produced by Sub Focus and Culture Shock.
Initially, he planned to feature Becky Hill on the track. But she was not able to join in the song. However, she co-wrote the song.
Sub Focus told Clara Amfo why he worked with Hayla on the track, “So originally, I wrote the track probably a while ago like before locked down even and as I was finishing my album, I was like, Okay, we really need to get in touch Becky play the final track, see which things and because she's got so much new stuff coming out. She was like, 'Okay, I can't be on this record' and we're like, okay, who is going to replace her because her voice is so unique. And I had worked with Hayla a little bit before and I was like, 'Okay, she's the person. She's kind of like the only person that could replace Becky', I think on that track. So I'm really happy that we got to work together on it. But yeah, absolutely. pleasure working with Becky and allowing amazing songwriters.”
  • He continued, “I was just so relieved that she could do that because it's a really belty vocal and it's like not everyone can hit those notes is quite a high key and stuff. So I was so relieved when Hayla likes on it, and it's like because this is the one now.”
The new album comprises 14-track, featuring guest appearances from Kelli-Leigh, AR/CO, Gene Farris, MC ID, Hayla, RHODES, Frances, LOWES, and Jonny L.
It is his first album in three years since the 2020 album “Portals” with Wilkinson.
He added about the album, “It's been a while. Probably been watching it for last three years since I did my last album portals with Wilkinson in 2020. And it feels great to be doing a solo album again after quite a long time. It's super exciting coming out this Friday. I can't wait for people to hear it.”
