Aisha Badru Releases New Song “Lazy River”
American singer-songwriter Aisha Badru released a new song “Lazy River” along with a music video on February 10, 2023.
The song is taken from her upcoming EP “Learning To Love Again”, which is set to be released on June 2, 2023 via Nettwerk.
It was written by Aisha Badru and produced by Gordon Allen.
The accompanying video was directed by Laura-Lynn Petrick, featuring dancer Amara Barner.
“It's this freeing of myself and allowing myself to try things that people would not expect of me,” Aisha Badru said of the song. “I feel more comfortable not meeting those expectations. It's about the healing process after loss. Emotional healing is a journey. True healing takes time and there should be no shame or urgency in any step of the process.”
The new EP is her first project since the 2021 “The Way Back Home”.- Aisha Badru shared on social media, “Symbolically, water represents emotions, change, and adaptability. Over time, moving water dissolves or smooths whatever goes through it. 'Lazy River' is a song that offers the perspective of being patient with ourselves in regards to the healing process that occurs after losing someone we love. There is often a sense of urgency to feel better or to appear happy, which often leads to the suppression of unprocessed emotions. When we allow ourselves to fully feel and move through our emotions, it is then that we can truly be transformed by the experience for the better.”
