  • Daughtry Covers Journey's “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” featuring Lzzy Hale

  • American rock band Daughtry, consisting of Chris Daughtry (vocals), Josh Steely (lead guitar), Brian Craddock (rhythm guitar), Elvio Fernandes (keyboards) and Brandon Maclin (drums), released a cover of American rock band Journey's “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” on January 5, 2023.

The band teamed up with American rock band Halestorm's vocalist Lzzy Hale on the track.
The original version of the song was released by Journey from their eighth studio album “Frontiers” in 1983. It was written by Jonathan Cain and Steve Perry.
The song reached No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album reached No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and No.6 the UK Albums chart.
Chris Daughtry said of the song, “I've always loved the song and I was wanting to do a classic cover and my wife and I were watching the 'Stranger Things' season finale and there's this incredibly intense scene and 'Separate Ways' was a big part of this scene. It was so moving just the way it was used, it felt so cool and epic and I was immediately like 'THIS is the one! We have to cover this song.' Then I was, like, 'How can we make this extra special? What if it was a duet? What if we got Lzzy on it!!??" Needless to say I was pumped she said yes and I absolutely love how it turned out.”
  • Lzzy Hale said, “Chris Daughtry and I have been threatening to unleash a duet for years. What better way to do that than by paying tribute to one of our mutual influences…. JOURNEY! This song is not only part of the 'Stranger Things' soundtrack, but has been my go-to for karaoke for as long as I can remember! I'm so honored to have been a part of this and I hope it makes you smile as big as I did while recording it!”
Also she shared on social media, “Get ready for Daughtry's cover of Separate Ways ( worlds apart) by Journey featuring ME! My favorite Journey song btw! I've wanted to release a duet with Chris Daughtry since we went on tour together in 2013. It's not everyday that I get the opportunity to parley with a vocalist who is just as devoted ( i.e. nerdy) as I am. What a talent he is…as well as being such a wonderful human to be around! Thank you Chris for asking me to the prom. 💜😈”
